It’s good to be home

After a 26 year wait, Towcester Hockey club had their first training session back on home soil. The doors of the new astro turf pitch at Towcestrians Sports club were flung open to welcome both existing and new players, and what a night!

With full social distancing and England Hockey Covid 19 guidelines in place, Ella Bevan, the junior coach, kicked off the evening with an exciting first session back for the U8s, U10s, U12s & U14s. Due to the high interest from new players it was decided that the Junior training would be extended by half an hour to accommodate all 55 players spread over the 4 age groups. It was fantastic seeing them all back into the swing of things, a huge success and fun was had by all!

The senior sessions followed shortly after, welcoming back our 4th, 3rd, 2nd & 1st teams – 72 players in total. Again a hugely successful first session back, with all of us getting used to the new slightly bouncier, slightly quicker pitch. We welcomed back coaches Tristan Hardy and Sam Garlick, our 1s, 3s & 4s coaches. Our 2nd team have a new coach, Paul King, this season to guide them through the Midlands Feeder league.

A total of 129 players came through the gates at Towcester Hockey Club on our first training session back, and we would like to thank you all for making it such a fantastic night and following all social distancing guidelines.

We wish all teams the best of luck this season!

It’s good to be home.
